    RPC taking over the Web

Not only is RPC the new cool, it’s also taking over the Web. Give it enough time and RPC will author the Web once over. Clearly, there’s nothing left for us humans to do but watch the time pass by.

I had to do a double-take when I saw this one, since it’s a screen-shot from my blog.

I do appreciate the humor in the post, but I thought I’d offer an explanation, in hopes that it doesn’t ruin the joke here. :-)

I’ve got a Ruby script that pulls my content from various sources (in this case my Google Reader shared items) via RSS or API calls and then consolidates them all by posting them into my WordPress blog via the XMLRPC feature they provide.

I decided to not use my regular WordPress user account for this automated process, so I set one up with the name “xmlrpc”, obviously either not thinking through this particular consequence fully, or caring enough to do anything about it once it was there.

And now you know… the rest of the story. :-)

Thanks for the story. I did something similar with delicious back in the days, but “this entry was written by delicious” doesn’t sound as sinister :-)
