Rounded Corners - 204 (Git Day)

Mandatory Git tip. If you’re still learning Git, check out Gitcasts. I didn’t read the book (yet), but after Scott’s presentation I’m going to bet it’s worth that $9 and more.

Remote branches demystified. If you haven’t figured out Git remote branches yet (raises hand in shame), check out GRB.  A little command line utility for dealing specifically with GRB.  Hopefully this will show up in future releases of Git, if not, plan B is just watch and learn.  GRB tells you what it does, so you can pick up this tricky Git practice along the way.  Simple and clever idea.

How to cheat with Git. Cheat, the super fun command line cheat sheet tool from the ever so creative defunkt, gets an evil twin, Chit. Still cheating, this time using Git instead of the old wiki. Not sure what it’s good for? Try this:

    chit git

Libin Pan has more on Chit.

Not quite Git. SVN 1.5 — the release you should wait for before leaving for better pastures, according to some at Apache — is out. For anyone who’s dealing with SVN branches, I say this is a mandatory upgrade that will bring happiness to your life. And that’s about it.

Anyone who’s bored stiff with Git, my apologies. These all just crossed my feed the past few days, so it ended a themed post. As the saying goes, never ascribe to new religion, that which can be explained by lazy posting. So to conclude with something entirely different …
