    Rounded Corners

Mainframe mashups. Who said you can’t teach old dogs new tricks? Google Maps in ASCII.

You say potato, I say tomato. jgehtland makes sense of it all by distinguishing between enterprise-class software and software that runs the enterprise.

Rails with WAP. Most modern cell phones do HTML very well. But if you want to support older ones, Todd Huss has the skinny on using Rails with WAP.

May the Forge be with you. Apple enters the Forge space (last month, old news). As did Google recently, and Microsoft before that (but no SVN support). Then there’s RubyForge and a many other botique Forges, not to mention grand central SourceForge. In case you’re still doubting that open source is growing.

Crossing the Chasm. I like Bruce Tate’s article From Java To Ruby: Risk for the very simple reason that you can apply it to any pair of phase-in/phase-out technologies. And, of course, there’s a lot of defensive responses that read much like the early reactions to C++ vs Java.

I actually find the criticism to be the best supporting evidence. You can tell a disruptive technology by the people who object to it.
